They can show up for work on time but can't show up to personal meetings on time. I give the 15 minute wait rule and then leave and let them call me to ask me where I am at. Then let them know maybe we can reschedule if we ever do. One exception is if they call me before the time agreed to meet to let me know they are running late.

USD1500 is only translates Php.88k you won't live like a king in this country on that amount especially if you live in upper middle or high end areas of Metro Manila.

We have heard of many families interviewed, when they moved from US (like NYC) to Philippines they experienced a 50% lower cost of living. So a $5K lifestyle in PH is a $10K lifestyle in the US, not lavish by any means. Middle class in the US, and lower-middle class in larger US cities.

This is the deal for me. I have lived in this Washington DC area for 20 years and have a nice house here: until a couple years ago. The water pipes on all floors burst while I was on a trip. I came home to garbage and mice everywhere so needed a room quickly while still working. Had to let the house go on sale. One of my coworkers, a lovely Filipina, (who makes wonderful pastries) said I should not think about retiring in the PI. She visits her hometown often and it is not good for expats now. She mentioned I should call a DC local hotel: Holiday Inn Express for a room. Stayed in the room for a couple months that became years after retiring, Still there now. I could have bought another house but would have sold the original had I seen this before. The monthly rate is covered by my pension payments and includes lots of benefits plus wireless connection. The only cost is the hotel bill and local taxes. I have my own small kitchen tools and can prepare any meals I like. There are many restaurants in the area that deliver to the room. The view overlooks lots of woods and park lands. The staff have been absolutely great and this gives total freedom in making plans and following actions: like visiting the PI. If traveling to the PI the colleague could go too and translate for me. In my case I should have sold the house earlier and ‘retired’ then. It may depend on your area rates. If you are retired check the rates in other areas you can visit for short stays. Make contact with hotels you like: they may give you special rates If they know it will be recurring. If not retired, visit hotels in your preferred area and ask what deals they might give you for a longtime stay. In my case I should have sold the house earlier and ‘retired’ then. Don’’t miss a chance to try other types of living (before you have to!). Regards

Savy Expat, great information. As a widower and my children are grown now. I am planning to return and retire in the Philippines 🇵🇭 😊. I was age (28), when I was stationed at Clark Air Base Philippines 🇵🇭 back in 1991. Now age (61). Retirement is getting closer around 2025. No later than end of next year. I am really encouraged to be a part of your assistant program about (4) .months to return and retire in the Philippines 🇵🇭.. I will admit CEBU City is my main choice. I am flexible and contemplating Manila area too. Just fear of prices there. I am confident I could live and afford it. I guess that is why I am glad your have 😅 your program. I do have your great free checklist. Eventually utilizing the military SRRV PROGRAM. Thank you so much. GOD SPEED in the Philippines 🇵🇭.

I am planning to visit the Philippines for my first ever visit and now i know i must stay more than 59 days to get an ACR CARD to open a bank account so i can make International Bank money transfers from the UK to a Philippine Bank Account. Q. How long on avg will it take to actually receiving an ACR CARD to take to one or more Philippine Banks? I intend to come and live permanently somewhere? In the Philippines after my first visit to try and find land to lease or buy long term 25 to 30 yrs or buy land? and a property to buy or build? 😅❤

All these "advantages" exist in every major city. But BGC has the worst execution in food taste and service of any major city in Europe or SE Asia and this obvious for anyone who has traveled to any other major city. Lets delve. The Texas roadhouses in BGC are 50% more expensive than in the USA but the food is terrible. Fatty cuts of steak, incorrectly cooked, weird smell in the food etc. Look at the Google maps reviews of Texas roadhouse BGC!! WOW 4.8!!! All fake reviews!! That's Filipino continuous improvement. The independent local Filipino restaurants in the malls are mostly disgusting. Flavor is terrible. Preparation terrible and service is of course poor. You will get the wrong food , at the wrong time and for a very high price, but it is served with a nice smile!! The international restaurant chains in BGC are the worst in the world. Look up any shake shack on Google maps in Thailand. What's this!! Not all the reviews are fake like in the Philippines? Whaddya know. In Thailand people complain that the fries are cold and the price is high and occasionally the delivery order is missing ketchup for the fries. In BGC customers complain that they got the wrong order entirely, that there were 3 employees at the checkout but only one taking orders and it takes 10 minutes to take the orders of 3 people. The dining room is dirty. The food is served after 30 minutes. The food is cold. Oh and it's 20% more expensive than in Bangkok. I could go on and on. This isn't about the food. This is sampling of competence and good functioning. It's very poor in BGC. It will wreck your quality of life. BGC is a scam for the delusional.

One time leaving the Chicago White Sox baseball game I made a wrong turn and my car wasn't stopping for no red lights. If police got behind me for running the red lights I would have thanked them after the escorted me out of that part of town. 🤣 granted their escort was going to cost me a few bucks if this would have happened.

All the rest TH is much better than PH (cheaper, cleaner, modern, traffic, food, infrastructure, service, much safer, no US influence, much less or no war potential with China, etc.) Don’t forget - PH is third world country - TH is second going to first world
